England’s municipal recycling rate now stands at 42.5%, showing a steady increase over the past 12 months, according to latest watchdog figures. The statistics released are up by 1% on the previous year (April 2010 – March 2011) based on data submitted by all of England’s local authorities. Household waste sent to landfill has decreased by 7.6% to 10.5m tonnes between the financial year 2010-11. Safelec continues to follow suit, aiming to recycle up to 100%.
